I can say that although the title says that it is for beginners, I can assure that even the greatest of experts in the subject, would find in the book a useful content. I work in the spiritual path and I have somehow studied some of the subjects that the author is discussing in the book, and I have found new interesting and useful tools that have broadened my perspective on the subject. The author effectively exposes each of the topics, which in my opinion, are complex, leading the reader to an easy understanding of them. The description of the personal experiences that the author gives as an example in the different chapters to support her point of view and conclusions, makes the reading very enjoyable. I recommend it.Product details

Beginners Guide to Happiness 15 Secrets for a Richer More Fulfilling Life Elba Mueller 9781539051480 Books Reviews
Such an inspiring book! I'm happy to have read this during a difficult time of my life! Thank you Elba Mueller for this amazing book. I highly recommend it to someone who is missing out a lot on his life and to those who feel like the world is closing in on them. This book made me really think outside the box. Highly recommended.
This little book is full of profound wisdom and sound advice. It covers many different areas that you can tackle to improve your own life. In fact there is so much content, that it is almost impossible to absorb it all in one read. I highlighted many different areas that I can go back to as a resource in my everyday life. It also makes a great gift for anyone who's on a personal journey to happiness!
This book is truly enlightening. Loved it from start to finish. A must read. This book offers great knowledge to help you see new perspectives about what we consider reality. This book helps you to know yourself in profound ways. Great reading.
Understanding yourself and taking the time to read books that allow you to meditate on how to put together the puzzle of being and becoming the best version of yourself is key.The mission of the author in this book is to help you understand what the eye cannot see - the unconscious level of your mind - so that you can use this knowledge to help yourself and maybe in the process, help others as well. “Beginners Guide to Happiness” is a beautiful arrangement of great content that compiles empirical learning as well as knowledge acquired through training in the field of consciousness and meditation. This book gives great real life examples on how to overcome life’s challenges such as anxiety, and fears to experience more happiness.
I give this book five stars and I recommend it as good resource to a Happier Life.
I liken Elba’s book to getting into a car with her in the driver’s seat…which knowing Elba, her car and her expressive personality would be as much fun as it would be a bold act of trust.
It goes without saying that Elba’s an exciting personality. She’s fluent in Spanish, German and English. She has a law degree. She’s an author and she’s licensed in a variety of meditative and counseling methods. The most recent in Primordial Sound Meditation.
So you get into the car, shut the door and fasten your seats, this time, not out of habit, but necessity. Elba begins the conversation with what I believe is a fairly strong driving force in her quest for happiness…. As she pulls away from the curb, she thoughtfully begins by saying
"For whatever mysterious purpose, the first hurts we experience after we are born are derived from our parents and other family members. From these perceptions of our experiences, an exterior image is born. This exterior image or persona becomes like an iron mask we use to hide our true soul from the rest of the world, a shield to protect us from being rejected by society. From this superficial mask, we gain our search for what seems to give us satisfaction and makes us feel happy."
I don’t respond soon enough, so Elba, feeling that things are just a little too quiet turns on the radio and quickly changes the subject, and laughing she says…..“We can casually say, "I know myself." I’ve said it many times during my early youth. Yeah, right! Only until we become a young adult and begin facing bigger challenges such as divorce, disease, family disruption, loss of a job, death in the family, etc. do we begin to consider that we might not have a clue of who we are. Then she sees an upcoming detour ahead, and rather than turning left, she turns right, and says
“Many times, we repeat the same mistakes twice or even more before we come to this realization. Life gives us challenges, which, if we allow them, make us wiser, so we can make better decisions based on discerning what we really want from life and not just what we believe we should want." Then, just before we come upon the entrance ramp to I-43, we pass a girl on a bike, which for Elba triggers a thought. She says
“Let's visualize for a moment a fitness stationary bicycle. As we began pedaling, we can close our eyes and even lie down with our upper body on the handles while our legs pedal. We don't force our legs to pedal, we don't say, "hey legs pedal" while our upper body is completely still, our subconscious just does it for us.
The same is true with walking. We're not making an effort about our walking our subconscious does it all for us. The question is what other instructions can my brain give to my body while I'm not actively or consciously knowing? I know what my thoughts are doing when I'm watching...but what are my thoughts doing when I'm not watching?"
And so now we’re on the highway and I sit back and listen thinking that the destination is happiness and I keep turning the pages, waiting for the secrets to happiness, and Elba just keeps on driving, observing and randomly sharing her thoughts…not from the past, not in future, but in the present moment.
Then in the middle of a sentence, she puts on the brakes and makes an exit of a small country road which leads to kind of labyrinth of ideas from meditation to energy and learning and body language and more. She just wants to explore and play with your mind a bit. To arouse your curiosity. To make you think about new things and even thinking about old things in a new way.
Just as you’re about to doze off a bit, you’re wakened as you hear Elba taking the keys out of the ignition only to realize you're home.
You get out of her car, shut the door and as you look over the hood, you see Elba, smile and thank her for the wonderful road trip…a trip on which you’ve been given an extraordinary insight. That "happiness is not a destination, it's a journey" You don't worry and create unnecessary stress about getting there... You don't look into the rear view mirror with regret over the stops, detours you made as well as those you didn't make.
Your happiness is simply in just going with the flow, just driving, enjoying the moment...having an honest conversation with an interesting person. It’s the feelings you shared, the beautiful scenery and unpredictable stops along the way. Thanks Elba... for a happy journey.
